Melania Trump will be the best New First Lady ever

Mrs Jacqueline Kennedy, fluent in Spanish, Italian and French humanised the White House, presented the U.S. in its best light and held world leaders from de Gaulle to Khrushchev in her thrall.

The John F. Kennedy Administration’s 1,000 day reign over the United States is romanticised by historians as “Camelot” but the wishful mysticism belies the fact that the world was on a knife’s edge during that time.

United States of America relations with the Russia were at an all-time low as the two superpowers continually antagonised each other; the arms race, The Bay of Pigs, The Cuban missile crisis and the beginning of serious American military involvement in Vietnam.

In 2016, the world once again is a terrifying place; relations between the U.S. and Russia are fractured, Syria is a bloodbath, the hydra that is ISIS continues to rear its ugly head throughout the Middle East and the Boko Haram insurgency are all evidence to this fact.

The late United States of America President, Roosevelt advised: “Speak softly and carry a big stick, you will go far”. In the combination of Donald Trump and Melania Trump we have just that she’s softly spoken and The Donald carries a big stick!

Mr Donald Trump strikes me as a leader who will get things done. Appreciative of his strength and conviction, leaders such as Putin and Netanyahu have lauded his crushing victory in the United States of America presidential election.

The perfect counterweight to President-elect Donald Trump is his poised and beautiful wife Melania Trump.

The first FLOTUS to be born outside of the United States of America since Louisa Adams (wife of John Quincy Adams, Melania has a deep appreciation of the privilege it is to be an American. Born in the former Yugoslavia, Melania Trump grew up under an oppressive communist dictatorship.

Childhood friends from her humble hometown of Sevnica recall the then Melanija Knavs living with her family in communist-style apartment housing that looked over a sea of smoking factory chimneys.

Her classmates describe Melania Trump as an excellent student, very organised, disciplined and with very decent manners who dreamt of escaping the oppression of Yugoslavia. As Melania Trump recently reminisced, America seemed a fairytale and United States of America meant if you could dream it, you could become it.

Armed with stunning looks, an excellent intellect and sharing her distant predecessor Jacqueline’s linguistic talents (Melania fluently speaks five languages  Slovene, English, Russian, German and French, Melania Trump forged an international career as a top fashion model, first in Milan and Paris before relocating to N.Y. in 1996, becoming a lawful permanent resident in 2001 and obtaining United States of America citizenship in 2006.

On the 17th of January 2017, Melania Trump will assume the role of New First Lady of the United States.

Joining President and Melania Trump at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue will be their 10-year-old son Barron. For the first time since little John-John Kennedy played under his father’s desk in the oval office, the White House will be occupied by a child presidential son.

Melania Trump, like the predecessors she publicly claims to most admire, Jacqueline and Betty Ford, will be first and foremost a wife and mother. Just like those predecessors, she will bring dignity and glamour to the White House.

The cornerstones of modern diplomacy are understanding and empathy. Melania Trump brings the knowledge and experience of a global citizen to her largely isolationist husband’s presidency. It requires little imagination to picture Melania Trump charming Putin in Russian in the Rose Garden or captivating Angela Merkel in German in the Blue Room.

Donald Trump is seen by some as brash and prone to fits of pique. Melania Trump softens that. She is clearly a very calming influence for her husband Donald Trump.

Melania Trump is also clearly no blindly loyal dolly-bird as some of her detractors may have the public think, an example in case being her very public disappointment at her husband’s “grab-them-by-the-pussy” comments. Melania will not be backward in coming forward to offer helpful and constructive criticism of her husband and his administration.

Although she maintained a relatively low-key role in her husband Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, Melania Trump has indicated that her special projects will be to combat cyber-bullying, especially among children and to focus on women’s health issues  important issues that will have resounding and positive impacts around the world.

Melania Trump is not one to assault the perceived glass-ceiling like Hillary and Michelle; women who seemed uncomfortable in their husbands’ shadows and hungered for the spotlight themselves. Melania Trump seems more likely to be the old-fashioned calming influence and power behind the man a most important role lost on feminists who use quotas to advance the moderately talented.

It is not hard to imagine Melania Trump encouraging President Donald Trump to find and destroy Boko Haram rather than holding a twee sign on social media with the bringbackourgirls handle.

From one Housewife to another, Melania Trump, I think you’ll do a brilliant job as chatelaine of the White House and I’m thrilled that You’re hired!
